This August I helped Talita at London Zoo to design and run the first ever weeklong children’s summer art classes. We had an amazing group of children and had a wonderful time exploring a range of artistic concepts and different materials including collage from life, printmaking, watercolour from life, sketching, ink drawing from still life and painting onto canvases. At the end of the week we put on an exhibition of all the work for the children’s parents and staff at the zoo. I was astounded by how much confidence the children gained throughout the week, not only with their mark making, but also in themselves within the group.
